Why I Decided to Go Vegan & Vegetarian
Hey everyone! I know it's been a hot minute, but I've finally managed to get some free time on my hands and I wanted to address a very important area of food that was recently drawn to my attention. Thank you all for keeping up with all my posts. I really appreciate it and I am glad to be back! I hope that you all can take this post as a learning experience and hopefully, just hopefully it will influence some of you guys like it influenced me.
So...ever since I started school, I became best friends with Alicia, who has been vegetarian for 3 years. In January 2019, I became invested in the reasons why she decided to convert to vegetarianism and what I found out completely blew my mind. After watching a documentary regarding the environmental impact of consuming meat and dairy-products (Cowspiracy- link is attached at the bottom), I was appalled. Never had I been exposed to these various horrific and shocking facts about the meat industry on the environment and so I decided to become vegetarian. Three months later, I watched Dominion (link at bottom), which recounted the animal cruelty involved in livestock farming, including the production processes of dairy and egg products. This was a huge turning point for me and I decided to abandon all animal-related products in order to prevent my desires from hurting the animals around me and become vegan. I also briefly watched TV Show: "Rotten" and Documentary: "Forks Over Knives", which solidified my decision to change my lifestyle.
Regurgitating all these facts would be way too wordy and boring for you all, but I'd just like to name some facts that really stood out to me:
These are just some of the facts that I have learnt about in the past 6 months. I highly highly encourage all of you to watch the following documentaries that made me convert into vegetarianism and then veganism. I promise you will learn so many things that will seriously impact you in some way or the other. In an upcoming blog post, I will be outlining my transition from eating meat on a daily basis for 18 years to converting into a vegan diet.
Please please please watch these documentaries and spread the word if you care about the environment, your health and the poor animals.
Thank you all!
P.s. thank you to Alicia who introduced me to all these movies and influenced me to make a better impact on our planet.
