When our car pulled up at at Park Lane Hotel, I was already super excited. We hadn't dined out for many weeks, because the Covid 19. So eating at SKYE, a french, fusion restaurant at the very top of the fancy Park Lane hotel, was definitely a treat. As we got out of the elevator at the 27th floor, it felt like we were entering a completely different world. The sleek and modern interior was fashionable and vibrant, and the staff were polite and inviting. But my favourite thing about the restaurant other than it's food was definitely the view. Since the restaurant was at the very top floor of the hotel, the view boasted a beautiful and alluring view of the whole Victoria Harbour. It was an incredible sight. The only thing that I didn't like was that I found, that inside the restaurant, it was quite hot and stuffy, but the amazing staff and view made me feel right at home. In addition, the staff gave us a seat right by the window, so that was a big plus. Indesignlive HK The Loop HK The head chef, Lee Adams, has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants Gary Rhodes in the UK and Dubai, and The Waterside Inn in the UK, before moving to Hong Kong and becoming the head chef of SKYE. He puts his own twist on French cuisine, giving you a playful and fun, and especially tasty experience. He makes sure to use the freshest ingredients to make sure you have the best dining experience possible. One of the things I noticed was that the ingredients in SKYE's dishes were from both the east and the west, but using his experience, the chef managed to put the ingredients and flavours together to form creative and delicious dishes. Chef Lee Adams, the Head Chef at SKYE (Pictures From Dining City and SKYE Official Website) We ordered SKYE's Set Lunch ($330 per-person) which includes a welcome drink, an appetizer, a main course, the dessert trolley, and coffee or tea. It was a delicious and creative meal that satisfied our bellies, but left us left us craving for more. Appetizers |
Char Grilled Spanish Octopus: My favourite dish of the day. Although I'm not usually a fan of octopus, this one was an exception. The octopus was cooked to perfection, chewy and fresh. The corn puree was sweet and fresh, soft and silky. All together, the dish was a brilliant explosion of flavours and textures that melted in your mouth. Probably the best octopus dish I've ever eaten. |
Soup of the Season: The soup of the season is based on what ingredients are the freshest during the your time of visit. This time, we had a Potato and Truffle soup with a potato dumpling inside. I wasn't quite a fan of the dumpling, it tasted a bit sour, but the soup was absolutely delicious. It was creamy but quite sweet, and the truffle just added that little twist that brought the dish to the next level. |
Main Course
Grilled Sirloin of Australian 200-Day Grain-Fed Beef: We ordered our beef medium-well, and the beef came tender and moist. At first, the mushroom foam on top seemed a bit strange, but in the end it was delicious. I personally thought that the steak was lacking a bit of seasoning, but everything else about the dish was magical. The asparagus was perfectly cooked, crunchy, juicy, and full of flavor, and the potato was rich and buttery, and full of flavour. | Seared Sous-vide French Chicken Breast: I absolutely loved the chicken. The meat was so juicy and tender, and the skin was salty and crispy. I was so used to the dry and hard chicken that we cooked at home, so the chicken was definitely a surprise as well as a wonderful treat. The chicken croquette was crunchy and juicy, but I thought the cabbage was lacking a bit of seasoning. The portion was just right, satisfyingly filling my belly. |
Dessert
I was definitely surprised when our waiter rolled in a giant trolley full of sweet treets. There were so many choices! There were Red Bean Green Tea Roles, Vanilla Mille-feuille, Lemon Tarts, Blueberry Cheesecakes, and much more. But I thought that some of these desserts were way to sweet, especially the panna cotta. It was basically pure sweetness. My personal favourite was definitely the Vanilla Mille-feuille. The crackers were crunchy, and they paired deliciously with the sweetness of the cream. The set also included Coffee or Tea, and a platter of fresh fruits with a ice-cream of the day.
Overall, eating at SKYE was definitely a great experience of great value. We will definitely come back!
