Fresh & Casual Viet Lunch

When my family and I first stepped into K-11 Musea, we were all in complete shock.  K-11 Musea is famous for having a wide variety of shops from all over the world, and blending different cultures from all over the world together to form a incredible place for both tourists and locals to explore. Art exhibitions, museums, galleries and a vibrant, international atmosphere make K-11 Musea a viable destination for locals and travellers who are interested in culture. After walking around for a while, we were already very impressed. The whole building was very creative, starting with the magnificent and majestic architecture, to all the amazing artworks all around the building. By the time we were done exploring the building, our stomachs were growling, and after all we had seen, we now had very high expectations for the food.

Like the whole structure, K-11 restaurants come from all over the world, from the traditional Cantonese Dim Sum, to the refine French cuisine. Each restaurant tells a unique story about its origin. Today, my family and I were looking for something fresh, so we went for BEP, which is a Vietnamese restaurant famous for their Pho. We arrived at the restaurant at 11:45, and we were lucky to  snatch one of the last tables in the busy restaurant.

BEP, which translates to "Kitchen" in Vietnamese, is no ordinary Vietnamese restaurant. Its homey foods will bring you to to the hawker stalls of Southeast Asia to enjoy the originality of street-style food, just like one of those you would see in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City’s street-side cafes. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxed and colorful, and the waiter that guided us to our table was bubbly and welcoming. BEP embodies the spirit of youthfulness using a wide array of aromatic spices, herbs and fresh ingredients that leaves even unadventurous eaters with a salivating mouth.  The restaurant uses fresh ingredients that are hand-picked daily, so you can guarantee that your food will be fresh. The menu was easy to read, and I was really excited to start eating.

Cha Gio (Spring Rolls) $78: The Spring Rolls were super crunchy, really liked the filling. The sauce was sweet and spicy. My only complaint, this was actually for all the Smaller Plates, was the heap of vegetables. There was WAY too much vegetables, which we didn't really like. Although it really helped lighten up the whole dish, there were just too much vegetables, and we ended up not even eating half of them.

Pho Tai HK$80: All of us got BEP's specialty, it's delicious Pho. It was by far my favourite dish of the day. The soup was fragrant, sweet but rich,  from the many hours it spent boiling. The beef was tender, chewy and soft. The plentiful amount of herbs added a very nice fresh taste which completely took the Pho to the next level. But the best bit for me was definitely the rice noodles. They were soft and chewy, and I loved how they absorbed all of the flavor, the beef, soup, and herbs, helping the whole dish come together.

Cua Lot Cuon (Soft Crab Rice Paper Rolls: $88: The soft shell crab was super crunchy on the outside, while the inside juicy and succulent.
Overall, eating at BEP was a delicious and fantastic experience. We will definitely come back!
